Rotary District 9400 held it’s yearly PETS conference on the weekend of the 23rd of February.
PETS stands for President-Elect Training Seminar. The conference is aimed at providing information, knowledge, fellowship and training for incoming presidents at Rotary clubs in the district. The incoming AG (Assistant Governer) candidates also attend the same conference.
More About PETS
Speakers included Grant Daly, Steve du Plessis, Maurice Stander and more. They spoke about changes in Rotary in the 2019/20 year and that what may have worked in the past may not be as effective today. The changes do not refer to the basic principles of Rotary but rather on the focus of diversity, variety and technology.
The entire seminar was digital and everyone used their laptops/tablets to access the materials as well as do the online courses.
It was held in Isando, Johannesburg at the Definitive Conference center. The location was great and the event was very well organized.
Antonie Potgieter (PE) from the Rustenburg Rotary Club attended the conference before he becomes president in July. He thoroughly enjoyed it and gained much knowledge as well as new friends from other Rotary clubs in the district.
Rotary Theme of 2019/20
The Rotary theme of the coming year is “Rotary Connects the World”.
